Faith and Penance

Is Penance a sign of how you deep one’s faith in God is measured?

Faith - is one's belief in God or in the doctrines or teachings of a religion.
Penance - an act of self-mortification or devotion performed voluntarily to show sorrow for a sin or other wrongdoing.

We all have different beliefs on how to interpret God's will and God's word.

Majority of people living here in the Philippines are Roman Catholic. We have so many celebrations including   Black Nazarene Feast. I belongs to that majority part, I'm also  a Catholic.

I was raised by my parents that every Sunday, we always go to Quaipo Church. Sadly, I hardly go to church these days :( I believed that I can communicate with my Creator any where, any time. I include in my prayers my penance and I believe in Him.

I am a Black Nazarene devotee. Every January 9 (Black Nazarene Feast), I always tries to go to Quaipo, if my schedule permits. I guess praying on the church serves as my devotion.  Some, including my late father, shows their devotion by being a part of the Black Nazarene procession which starts on Quirino Grandstand and ends on Quiapo Church. Millions of Filipinos participates on this annual event.

This annual Black Nazarene feast have been copied by Catholics here. They make replica of Nazarene visits one place or another. Showing one's devotion by participating on those things is not wrong but what makes it  wrong is the participation of children.

A kid doing what the adult is doing made me mad, because that is practically child abuse.
Children should go to school instead of walking for hours... do they know what it means? do they know the meaning of faith? penance? NO.

They have no idea on those things, they just participate because it is IN, because that was what their parents is doing.

i just hope that parents will make their children understand everything they need to know before letting them participate on that kind of tradition.

Vista Cielo - Three Places at the same time

Got the chance to explore Rizal province which is out of my reach... been in and out of Rizal province (only in antipolo) haven't had the chance to visit the mountainside of Rizal...

Last June 30 - July 1st, we, my friends decided to go on overnight on Vista Cielo, which is located in between three provinces. Tanay, Rizal, Sta. Maria, Laguna and Real, Quezon. Move over A Walk To Remember... Three places at the same time ^.^

Enjoyed the view, mountainside, Laguna de Bay and more! fogs where everywhere. felt like Baguio...  so laid back and we loved it...

Since Vista Cielo is located near the mountains of Sierra Madre which is actually the longest mountain range in the Philippines, there are some check points being located on Marikina - Infanta Highway which is done by Philippine Army. I had a talk with Pastor, didnt got his name but he and his family serves as the caretaker of Vista Cielo, as per him, no crime being done by the rebels (New People's Army - NPA) near their area, and they were living there peacefully. He also mentioned that if there are no guests on Vista Cielo, the dining are serves as their church where they gather every Sunday for the Services. :D

I really enjoyed strolling around the place.. so peaceful, so serene ^.^

You can check out Vista Cielo's facebook page :)

Farewell Sagada, Hello Baguio

We bid our goodbye to Sagada and we started our journey going back home...

Since were done on Banaue - Bontoc route, we decided to try other route :D

We passed by on endless blind curves... and the rain welcomed us on Benguet. The rain made us experience an almost zero visibility, which made me awake all throughout the trip.

We stopped by to take some pictures of mountains and flowers.

We also took pictures of the Highest Point of Philippine Highway System which is 7,400 feet above sea level found in Atok, Benguet. Amazing!

We had our lunch (2 PM) at La Trinidad, in front of Strawberry Farm, and then we proceed to Baguio.
