I didn't have the luxury to took picture of the exterior because of the rain |
After paying for our bill, rain started pouring... yet we went to Lemon House to check their bestseller... Lemon Pie!!
At around 2 PM with our guide, Janu, we headed to jump off
point of Mt. Ampacao. Our destination is Lake Danum via Mt. Ampacao and Mt.
Nabas-ang. This is my first time to trek under the rain. Scary but exciting J
At jump off point |
We walked in a muddy trail.
Then after a while our guide asked us what trail we should take, the normal trail or the short cut trail. The difference between the two is if we take the shortcut trail it would only take us about 15 minutes to be on one point of the mountain while taking the normal path would take us around 20 - 30 minutes. As we take on that shortcut path, we realized that it was a 45 degrees trek going up and we encountered locals who were going down from the mountain doing a leisure walk!!! OMG! We were all muddy and crawling and they walk like that?! Nahiya naman ako sa sarili ko :D

After that 45 degrees trail, we continue our trek, and
having an environmentalist and an agriculture engineer in the group, I got to
know things that I do not know.
Pitcher plants were all over the place, as well as wild berries as Raine and RD talking about those things nonstop… kung ano anong plant species ang napapag usapan and even their scientific names... I hear my blood rushing through my nose... :D

After sometime, we got to see the clearing. Yey! We’re now
on top of the Mt. Ampacao! Sadly due to rain and fog, we didn’t have the chance
to view the place I mean the town of Sagada from the mountain…
As we continue walking, we saw some cows and carabaos on top
of the mountain as well as their poo poo. Poo Poo here, there everywhere…
We rest for a while and check out the place, which is covered with clouds... Some picture taking and biodiversity checking kuno of Raine and RD...
According to Janu James (our guide), we will trek Mt. Nabas-ang until we descend to Lake Danum which is unknown to many. I guess some thought that the whole trail going to Lake Danum is still part of Mt. Ampacao which is not. (this is my understanding based on what our guide told us). Going to hit two mountains in a single trip?! Amazing indeed!
As we continue, we come to think on how flexible and resourceful those cows and carabaos, because even in the steepest trail, or places we were able to see their poops.. been avoiding it like a bomb... until we saw another steep trail. You'll forget to check if you're stepping on poops or not because you will need your both hands to help you getting down... As we descend, Rain got a wild idea, he decided to slide on that trail, making his improvised stick his break and he's full of mud (with poops on the side.)..
As we carry on our trek, we found out that its almost dark na. and still in the middle of nowhere... until we saw a garden, as per our guide, that garden serves as a landmark that we're near the road na.. To the owner of that garden, I apologize, I didn't mean to stepped on the plants. :(
Adrenalin rushed over me when I saw the road... we're safe! Continued walking until we reached Lake Danum... in darkness, it was already around 6 PM and me being afraid of ghost?! patay tayo jan... can't harly look into the lake... and literally clung to Raine when started telling stories about the house across the late that will be passing by...
When I saw our van, I really want to calm down but not after what our driver told... he sensed something when he tried to wait for us in the lake and even our guide told us that there's something daw nga...
Fighting my fears, with fog all around the van... and my friend beside me is not helping by scaring me... all I did is pray... until we got to the lodge...As the van stopped in front of the lodge, I went to the lobby to drink hot coffee, being wet for hours is not a good idea... after that we took shower and then had our dinner at Yogurt House...
Note: The moment I realized that its getting dark na, I stopped taking pictures... because I might see things in the picture that I don't want to see...
